Welcome to the 2021LadbrokesCoxPlateCarnival, wherewe look to welcome you back to the Home of Legendary. Our two-day Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival on October 22-23 will burst back to life as our two premier races take centre stage as we celebrate the running of the 101st W.S. Cox Plate and 54th edition of the Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes. What we bore witness to in the 2020 Ladbrokes Cox Plate, the 100th running of our great race, is something we may never see again. Unfortunately, due to covid restrictions, there was no crowd in attendance at The Valley for Ladbrokes Cox Plate 100, but that took nothing away from the brilliant spectacle it was as champion jockey Glen Boss captured his fourth W.S. Cox Plate on Sir Dragonet. Following the Winx era of 2015-2018, where the great mare reigned supreme, it was unclear how the Ladbrokes Cox Plate would evolve from there, but after Lys Gracieux became the first Japanese winner in 2019 and Sir Dragonet became the second Irish-bred winner in 2020, we now know that the Weight-for-Age Championship of Australasia is clearly recognised on the world stage as Australia’s best race. Several new challengers now seek to take their place in ‘The Race Where Legends Are Made’ , with the best of the best planning their assault on the race so as to be at The Valley on October 23 for their chance at glory in the Ladbrokes Cox Plate. To be trackside to soak up the greatest two minutes in sport is a bucket-list for many and having missed the opportunity to be there in 2020, it is the perfect time to return to the Home of Legendary. Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes Night on October 22 is fast becoming the most vibrant and thrilling night of racing in Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival. The electric atmosphere of Spring Racing under lights is unsurpassed and the thundering hooves of the Group 1 horses echoes across the amphitheatre that is The Valley. The richest night race in Australia has built a roll call that is the envy of the industry with equine heroes such as Vain, Rubiton, Miss Andretti, Sepoy, Buffering, Chautauqua and now dual champion Hey Doc all proudly taking their place on it. Another name will soon be added to the adulation of the energetic crowd in 2021. The Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival is, put simply, a unique event that has no peer. The best of racing, entertainment and food comes together in two contrasting settings that, when combined, provides an experience like nowhere else.
