27 The Moonee Valley Racing Club amended the conditions of our signature race in 2012 to make it into an international invitational race. The Club’s objective is to attract the best possible field of southern and northern hemisphere ten-furlong turf thoroughbreds to The Valley in October to contest the Ladbrokes Cox Plate. An exclusive invitation is extended to qualified runners by the Moonee Valley Racing Club to cover all costs associated with transporting invited horses to Melbourne to contest the 2019 Ladbrokes Cox Plate, including travel and accommodation expenses for the connections of each horse. Connections of horses that qualify for an invitation to contest the 2019 Ladbrokes Cox Plate would receive full payment provided their horse arrives in Australia. If the horse were not to participate in the Ladbrokes Cox Plate (e.g. through injury or illness), the Moonee Valley Racing Club would still meet expenses.
